NORTH PORT, FL, March 19, 2014 (Press-News.org) "Headed For A Fall" is David Allen Hammond's celebrated single from his "Lifelines" album. True to his introspective attention to life's subtleties, David takes a look at one of the surest things most people face at least once in their life, the Fall.
A transplanted Austinite living and performing in New York City since 2008, David Allen Hammond's music paints a tapestry as wide as the open desert sky. Over the course of his 35 years of performing, his guitar virtuosity has been featured on stage with Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, Kimmie Rhodes, Kelly Willis, Sara Hickman, Tish Hinojosa, Nancy Griffith, Rosie Flores, Ray Campi, David Halley and many others. His songwriting credits include collaborations with Jimmie Dale Gilmore (featured on four of Gilmore's albums, two of them Grammy-nominated) , Kevin Welch, Fred Koller, Don McCalister, and Tom Littlefield. His collaborations have appeared on albums by M. Ward, Jane Saunders (ARIA award-Best Country Album), Fred Koller and others.
Released in 2002, David Allen Hammond's CD "lifelines" was recorded at Austin's prestigious Congress House Studio. "lifelines" is filled with passion and scorching, over-the-top performances by some of Austin's premier session musicians. Combining the stark, windswept central Arizona deserts of his childhood with the expansive landscape of his musical vision, "lifelines", is filled with succinct, yet vividly heartfelt images of love, loss, despair and triumph despite overpowering odds. . .making "lifelines" a most remarkable offering from a most remarkable musician, David Allen Hammond. -Lynda Jones-
David plays shows on the Eastern seaboard as well as select venues from NYC to Texas.
"This is the man who discovered the secret."
-Jimmie Dale Gilmore-
"The more you hear them, the more David Allen Hammond's songs work their hold you....His songs are all great stories, David is a storyteller, or rather a painter with words...true gems full of variety, alt. country and Americana"
