DALLAS, TX, March 22, 2014 (Press-News.org) Respected Family Law attorney Richard R. Orsinger, name partner in the boutique firm of McCurley Orsinger McCurley Nelson & Downing, L.L.P., has been selected to receive the Texas Bar Foundation's prestigious Dan Rugeley Price Memorial Award.
Mr. Orsinger was chosen as the 2014 recipient because of his "demonstrated dedication to the Bar and service to the public with the same commitment, dedication and zeal which defined Dan Price's life and work. He exemplifies the qualities of an accomplished legal writer and researcher, a talented and dedicated practicing lawyer, a servant of the profession as a volunteer and an advocate on its behalf," according to the Texas Bar Foundation.
"To receive this award is a very special experience for me," says Mr. Orsinger, who served on the 1996 inaugural selection committee for the award named for Mr. Price, a revered Austin lawyer who died in 1994. "Dan and I were good friends, and he was someone whose commitment to clients and devotion to the advancement of the legal profession was virtually unmatched."
Mr. Orsinger will receive the Dan Rugeley Price Memorial Award at the Texas Bar Foundation awards dinner held during the Bar's annual meeting on June 27 at the Hilton Austin. As part of the recognition, the Bar Foundation will make a donation in Mr. Orsinger's name to a law school he designated, Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law Internal Scholarship Program.
No stranger to accolades, Mr. Orsinger has earned numerous honors for his legal work, as well as his commitment to promoting continuing legal education for Texas attorneys. He is also one of few Texas attorneys to hold dual board certifications in Family Law and Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
He has been selected by Texas Super Lawyers as one of the top 10 attorneys in the state four times and as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Texas each year since 2003. He also has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in Family Law every year since 1987 and in Appellate Law since 2007. He has been honored as the Family Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers and was named the Top Family Lawyer in Texas in the 2007 Texas Lawyer Go-To-Guide.
A prolific writer and speaker, Mr. Orsinger has written and presented more than 225 CLE articles. He also authored an authoritative 900-page treatise on Texas civil appellate procedure and was Chief Editor of a two-volume work on the use of experts in Family Law litigation, as well as the State Bar of Texas' Texas Supreme Court Practice Manual.
His CLE work has earned Mr. Orsinger numerous awards and recognition, including the 2008 State Bar of Texas Family Law Section award for the Best Family Law CLE article and the prestigious Franklin Jones Best CLE Article Award in 2009. He is also a past recipient of the Gene Cavin Award for Excellence in CLE from the State Bar of Texas. He served on the State Bar of Texas' CLE Committee for more than 10 years, including two years as chairman.
