NEW HAVEN, CT, March 30, 2014 (Press-News.org) The Engineering and Science University Magnet School (ESUMS), an innovative STEM school in the New Haven Public School District, is celebrating the announcement of its first Student Innovation Expo Mini event that will take place on April 8, 2014. The event is open to the general public, and will take place on their temporary campus at 130B Leeder Hill Drive in Hamden, Connecticut. The school has enlisted educators, college professors, and industry professionals to judge the projects and provide feedback to the student groups. The winners of this event will move forward to compete at the Student Innovation Expo hosted by the Center for 21st Century Skills at EDUCATION CONNECTION on May 17th at the General O'Neill State Armory in Hartford, Conn.
ESUMS won the Director's Award and the Third place award for the Ninth Grade Academy category in its first year of participation in the Student Innovation Exposition in 2013. The school plans on building upon its success after expanding its curricular partnership with Center for 21st Century Skills at EDUCATION CONNECTION this school year.
The Student Innovation Exposition is the culminating event for more than 2,000 middle and high school students engaged in cutting edge science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and digital arts and media education programs.
Center for 21st Century Skills at EDUCATION CONNECTION is an innovative team of educators that recognizes the need for creativity and technical expertise in our fast-paced global society. Our vision is for innovation in education through the integration of 21st century skills into the teaching and learning process.
EDUCATION CONNECTION is one of Connecticut's 6 Regional Service Centers. Our mission as the regional educational service center in western Connecticut is to promote the success of school districts and their communities.
