BizStream, West Michigan Technology Company, Celebrates Year of Significant Growth With Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House on April 18

Media welcome to attend

2014-04-02
ALLENDALE, MI, April 02, 2014 (Press-News.org) BizStream, a web and software development company located on the outskirts of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is celebrating a time of significant growth. Growth that includes a newly purchased, renovated, and furnished space; a near doubling of staff; a revenue increase of 40 percent over the last two years; and an expanding local and national client base.

BizStream was founded in 2001 by Grand Valley State University student, Mark Schmidt. Soon after, Brian McKeiver, a GVSU graduate came aboard as co-owner and senior developer. The company was originally created to build intranets and custom software. Website development and the introduction of BizStream's favorite content management system, Kentico, came a couple years after BizStream was established.

"When we added website development to complement our custom software business, as well as when we started using Kentico, things really took off for us," said Schmidt. "So much so that we now own a newly renovated 20,000-square-foot building, and in the last year have added to our staff three new developers, an account manager, a project manager, an office manager, and a marketing expert."

Schmidt believes much of BizStream's success is attributable to the company's culture and team members.

"Our motto of whatever it takes starts at the top and goes all the way through the organization," Schmidt remarked. "And, we mean whatever it takes for our team, our clients, our community, anything we touch, really. The reason we defined this kind of culture is because from the very beginning, I didn't want to work at a typical job. That doesn't mean I didn't want to work ridiculously hard. I just realized that we spend the majority of our time at work so it should be somewhere I really wanted to be. I want everyone on our team to feel like this is a great place to come to work every day. "

McKeiver echoes Schmidt's thoughts of BizStream's culture. "I like that BizStream is purely powered by its employees. The culture helps with that. Every minute of every day that we put into BizStream is a direct correlation to the amount of success BizStream has."

As BizStream has grown, the company has enjoyed an increase of both local and national clients. Nationally, BizStream has developed websites for Sauder Woodworking, BendixKing (Honeywell), Starmark Inc., Gibson Law, LMC, and VIP Research & Evaluation. Locally, the company works with several clients, including YWCA of Grand Rapids, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, Warner Norcross & Judd, and Irwin Seating Company.

To celebrate BizStream's growth, the company is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on April 18, 2014 at 11480 53rd Ave., Allendale, Michigan. The ceremony will begin at 2:30 pm, with the open house to follow at 3:00pm. Media is welcome to attend both events.
