Tarps Have Been in High Demand: Tarps Plus Seeks More Expansion
2010-11-17
PALMDALE, CA, November 17, 2010 (Press-News.org) The number of natural disasters that our world has had to deal with this year is truly unbelievable. It has left rescue aid groups scrambling to come up with enough supplies and means to get them there. But it is not only the rescue organizations that have found themselves overwhelmed. Tarp companies have been the number one supplier for temporary shelters to the victims. The tarps have been in huge demand this year, and this demand has at times actually resulted in a shortage. However, supply has grown to meet demand as these suppliers and manufacturers are stepping up their game.

All in good time, too. The recent rainstorms in the Philippines are but a reminder of the years previous flooding incidents in areas such as Pakistan. These two places were hit hard, leaving many residents homeless and hopeless. However, those who have been able to get their hands on a high-quality tarp are grateful that they have a shelter to rely on until they can rebuild or relocate.

In the United States, hurricane season is well underway. And everyone who lives on the gulf or anywhere near the Atlantic coastline knows what that means. Everyone has taken care to prepare for these storms that seem inevitable.

While there have been no severe hurricane landings to deal with, many have felt the effects of more than one. Having a few tarps on hand can really help you be as prepared as possible.

Angelina Urquart, the G.M. of Tarps Plus, stated, "We always have to have tarps on hand for any occasion. Expanding our tarp inventory is very common for us."

The fact that most poly tarps are waterproof and durable makes them in high demand. There are few substances that are so affordable and yet can provide such substantial coverage. Many are also using them to patch their homes after a storm has hit until they can get the necessary repairs completed. It is amazing the number of uses everyone has found from the tarp this year.

Michael Stein is the president of Tarps Plus and is an expert on tarps and the tarp industry.

Tarps Plus has been selling tarps to the general public since 1956. They specialize in poly tarps and canvas tarps
