Shanghai Tower, the New Benchmark for Innovation, To Be Part of General Session at Realcomm | IBcon!
2014-04-11
CARLSBAD, CA, April 11, 2014 (Press-News.org) Realcomm Conference Group, LLC, a global leader in providing technology education and networking opportunities for the commercial, corporate, government and institutional real estate industry, announced today its plans to showcase the Shanghai Tower, designed by Gensler and under construction in China, as part of the joint Realcomm | IBcon opening General Session on June 18 at the LVH Hotel. A presentation about the Tower, which has created a new global benchmark for super structures, will be showcased by Ben Tranel, an architect with Gensler.

"I'm excited to present the Shanghai Tower project at Realcomm | IBcon 2014. When we look at building mega tall skyscrapers, we often question how it can be sustainable at such a massive scale," commented Tranel. "But because of its sheer size, there is inherent sustainability that is tied to the urban infrastructure. While it will not achieve net zero emissions, the Tower is being architecturally built with a lower carbon footprint infused with state-of-the art technology for an enhanced user experience. One of the things that make this project stand out is the spatial experience it will provide. In spite of its height, this high-rise will mimic the feel of an urban neighborhood or what is referred to as a stacked vertical community."

Global high profile, high investment, mega projects typically represent innovative best practices. This is definitely true for the Shanghai Tower. When complete, it will be the tallest building in China at 2,073 feet. Not only will it be China's tallest, it could very well be the world's smartest, most energy efficient and sustainable.

"Each year at Realcomm | IBcon, we strive to present leading edge topics and best of breed projects relevant to our industry," commented Jim Young, co-founder and CEO of Realcomm. "We are thrilled to have Ben give our attendees a first-hand look at the Shanghai Tower, which represents the future of smart, high performance buildings and the most cutting edge technology and innovation available globally."
