Time is Running Out For Geeks Giving Back to Change the Lives of Children In Sesawng, India

2014-04-11
FREMONT, CA, April 11, 2014 (Press-News.org) GEEKS Giving Back (www.geeksgivingback.com) is working hard to raise awareness for the Just Let Me Learn Foundation's (www.igg.me/at/sesawng/x/3198825) drive to help kids in economically challenged areas around the world get access to education. Their goal is to raise $65,000 to fund the first phase of construction costs for a new school in the Mountain Village of Sesawng, in Northern India. This school will educate up to 750 children every year.

The Geeks Giving Back Networking Event (www.geeksgivingback.com/2014/04/03/geeks-giving-back-inaugural-networking-event) on April 3, 2014, raised $20,447 for the cause, but the campaign is still short $11,000. The Sesawng School Indiegogo Campaign (www.igg.me/at/sesawng/x/6176972) ends on April 12 at 11:59pm and we need your help!

There are many ways for donors to help in the drive:

1. $300 for My Just Let Me Learn School Desk (www.indiegogo.com/projects/just-let-me-learn-school-sesawng-india/contributions/new?perk_amt=300&perk_id=1664271). This perk will fund one of the 750 personalized desks at the school. If you had a chance to tell your 10 year old self something, what would it be? The desk will include your personal message that a child will read every day, with a new child sitting in that desk every year. All desks are numbered to track the impact of that message on students over time. Desk purchasers will also receive a beautiful Sesawng Commemorative Coin valued at $30.

2. $1,000 for My Road to Learning (www.indiegogo.com/projects/just-let-me-learn-school-sesawng-india/contributions/new?perk_amt=1000&perk_id=1685206). This perk will build one of the nine 1,000 foot roads required to traverse the steep elevations to reach the Sesawng school. Each road will be named for the donor or their company. Shivananda Way, Stewart Court, Savithry Loop and Gangadharan Way have already been funded. What would you name your personal road in India?

3. $2,500 for My Sesawng Playground (www.indiegogo.com/projects/just-let-me-learn-school-sesawng-india/contributions/new?perk_amt=2500&perk_id=1664272). Kids need a safe place to play. With this donation, you will enable one of the three playgrounds on the Sesawng school site. This playground will be dedicated to the donor with a permanent plaque.

4. $5,000 for My Sesawng Classroom (www.indiegogo.com/projects/just-let-me-learn-school-sesawng-india/contributions/new?perk_amt=5000&perk_id=1664274). The site will have three buildings with 10 dedicated classrooms. This donation will fund the construction of a classroom that will be named and dedicated to the donor or the donor's company. The donor can even choose the specific classroom they want to sponsor - Pre-K, Kindergarten, or 1st through 8th grades.

Donors can contribute through numerous perks on the Indiegogo campaign site: http://www.igg.me/at/sesawng/x/3198825.

A number of executives and other members of the Geeks Giving Back community are already committed.

"This effort underscores our commitment to learn, to create. The Just Let Me Learn Foundation is doing more good with less money than I have seen in many moons. I want to be there to watch the first child raise her hand in her new desk," said Tony Greenberg CEO of RampRate (www.RampRate.com). "We pledged $10,000 to build the 'Field of Dreams' soccer field for the school because at RampRate, we turn work into play!"

"I was touched when I saw what Dean & his mom were building in India. They are giving children in poverty a way to pull themselves up." said Maricel Cerruti, Founder of Geeks Giving Back (www.geeksgivingback.com), "Boys and Girls in Sesawng will have a way to break the vicious circle of poverty. It feels wonderful to know that we are playing a part in changing lives so dramatically."

"Helping Just Let Me Learn build the Sesawng school in India was a no brainer." said George Rocket, CTO of DataCenterDynamics (www.datacenterdynamics.com) who funded a $5,000 classroom. "You never know where the next Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg will come from. Go Sesawng!"
