HARTLEPOOL, ENGLAND, April 12, 2014 (Press-News.org) UK-based Peart Fencing has the distinct luxury of celebrating an event that many businesses never reach - a 90th birthday celebration. The founders and employees of this highly respected fencing supply and distribution company are taking the opportunity to acknowledge both the efforts of those who have helped build the company previously and those who will take it forward in future years
Peart Fencing's story begins with the company founder, Fred Peart, who began trading as a coal merchant in 1923. During his deliveries to farmers, he received many enquiries regarding the availability of timber fencing. Being the entrepreneur he was, he took old pit props from the coal mines and cut these into timber post and rail fencing. The demand was high, particularly during the war, and this profitable sideline quickly grew into a thriving business.
Many people asked for fencing to be supplied and fitted, so Fred began erecting timber fencing all across the northeast of England. As the business grew and became increasingly known and respected, requests for metal fencing started. This led to the construction of the first of four welding and fabricating workshops. Today, Peart Fencing is located on a 12-acre site where all manner of fencing products are manufactured.
When asked what is the principal explanation for Peart's success, managing director Colin Stead said, "We have continually changed and adapted our product range and customer base. We used to do timber fencing and timber treatment, joinery and teak garden furniture. We have dropped these products over the last 15 years and concentrated wholly on products we can manufacture ourselves using materials sourced in the UK. We have invested heavily over the last 20 years (GBP1.5m) in equipment, machinery and transport (and people) and our product range is all steel fencing for security, public spaces, social housing."
Stead continued on to describe the upcoming festivities, stating, "We intend to celebrate our 90th year of being a limited company by throwing a party for all our employees - the people who work hard to ensure we continue to be just as successful in the future. We will also ensure our customers know that they are buying from a well established manufacturer who will be around for many years to come, thanks in large part to the PR material sent out with our products and articles placed in the relevant trade magazines"
Peart Fencing has supplied an array of fencing products to organisations and individuals across the UK.
