Comin Project Announces Launch of Crowdsourcing Campaign

Kickstarter push will fund advanced development of innovative new app for storytellers

2014-04-13
NORFOLK, VA, April 13, 2014 (Press-News.org) The Comin Project, an innovative new platform for both indie storytellers and fans alike, announced today the launch of its Kickstarter crowdsourcing campaign, beginning Wednesday, April 16, 2014. The Comin Project includes both the Comin Writer, which consists of a comprehensive set of story writing and visual creation tools, and the Comin Reader which is a convenient and interactive tool for readers to view their favorite comics and content on mobile devices or personal computers.

The Comin Project was designed for comic creators and readers, but it is not limited to only those two audiences; the platform is for anyone who enjoys telling or reading stories.

"With comics today, mainstream publishers control the market, and our goal is to help level the playing field," says Jeremiah Greco, founder of the project. "The Comin Project will make it cheaper and easier for indie creators to prepare, publish, and market their story for its intended audience; subsequently, readers will end up with high quality stories to enjoy without breaking the bank."

How It Works
The Comin Reader is for readers to download and digest both traditional and interactive comics on their mobile devices or personal computers. The Comin Writer is for both hobbyists and professionals to write, layout, and publish interactive comics or convert and publish traditional comics in a way that is easily viewable within the Comin Reader.

The Comin Writer will be available on any device that has access to a web browser and can run the Unity Web Player plug-in. The Comin Reader will be available on Android (including Kindle), iOS, and web browsers on launch with more to follow.

Development Timeline
The Comin Reader has been in development for more than a year and a half, and is in its final developmental stages. The Comin Writer began development in early 2014. The campaign's current forecast is that approximately 1,000 more hours are needed to complete the software. With a successful Kickstarter campaign, the project will dramatically accelerate the development process and cut the schedule by almost two and a half years, launching by the end of 2014.

Crowdsourcing
The Kickstarter campaign's initial goal of $50,000 begins on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 12:00 am, Eastern Time and runs through May 17, 2014 at 11:59 pm, Eastern Time. Full details about the Kickstarter campaign, including demos, commentary, initial content previews, monetization, timeline calendars, as well as sponsorship and involvement levels can be found at:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1254458129/1460748568?token=3c1f9b1c.

"Comic creators get free tools to design rich and interactive stories and readers get more quality and economical stories," added Greco.
