Event honors those who save lives every day and those who have lost their lives

2014-04-18
DENVER, CO, April 18, 2014 (Press-News.org) The 17th Annual AirLife Memorial Run/Walk and EMS Celebration benefiting the Friends of AirLife, will take place Saturday, May 10th at The Hudson Gardens and Event Center in Littleton, CO. The event includes a 5k/10k run, 5k walk and kid's fun run, a "fire/EMS muster," EMS Volleyball Challenge Tournament and numerous activities for all ages to enjoy.

Activities for children include the free kid's fun run, the Kids Combat Challenge, a bouncy castle, bungee trampolines, a climbing wall, face painting and special appearances by local professional sports team mascots Rocky, Crusher, and Wooly.

Each year, Friends of AirLife hosts the event in honor of the everyday heroes in EMS and those emergency responders who lost their lives. The race was created in memory of Pete Albplanalp, Beth Barber, Leslie Feldmann and Julie Olmstead, who died on Dec. 14, 2007, in an AirLife helicopter crash and related car accident. Since its inception, the race has evolved to include honoring the fallen heroes of air medical, EMS, fire and police, as well as the beloved Friends of AirLife founder, Jim Ulrich, who lost his battle with leukemia in Dec. 2006.

Organizers of the event, the Friends of AirLife, dedicate the proceeds from this year's event to the maintenance of the AirLife Memorial Park and continued EMS education, including the Jim Ulrich Silver Falcon Award for EMS leaders.
