Bucks County Art Tour Receives PA Council on the Arts Grant

Fourth Annual Elephant's Eye Studio Tour to be Held in May 2011

2010-11-18
DOYLESTOWN, PA, November 18, 2010 (Press-News.org) Bucks County's Elephant's Eye Studio Tour has received a Project Stream grant for the second time from the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. The $2,750 award supports the tour financially and affirms the value of its mission.

"Generous support like this helps make the tour sustainable and continue to flourish," said Bucks County ceramic artist and the Tour's founder, Lisa Naples. "I'm seeing Elephant's Eye grow some beautiful roots from the seeds we planted just a few years ago."
Recognition for the tour has grown steadily since its inception in 2008 and is quickly becoming a cherished institution of the Bucks County arts culture each spring. The tour features the studios and work of internationally known and celebrated local artists in a variety of media unified under the umbrella of high innovative quality.

Bucks County has historically been a place saturated with creative talent. Elephant's Eye creates a window into some of the area's most impressive contemporary artists with its hands-on demonstrations and tours of participating artists' studios. Not only does the tour attract collectors for the chance to buy exceptional artwork, but it has been an educational tool with a day set aside specifically for student groups to connect with working artists.
The following artists are slated to participate in the 2010 Tour; ceramic artist; Lisa Naples, photographers; Michael A. Smith and Paula Chamlee, wood turner; David Ellsworth and bead artist; Wendy Ellsworth, collage artist; Stacy Speer Scott, painter; Alex Cohen, metal sculptor; John McDevitt, sculptor; Lewis Pruitt, abstract painter; Pat Martin and the multifaceted artist; Devin Bird.

"This project is supported by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, through its regional arts funding partnership, Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA). State government funding for the arts depends upon an annual appropriation by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. Additional support of the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) Partnership in Southeastern Pennsylvania is provided by PECO."

Any individual or business interested in contributing to a sustainable future for the Elephant's Eye Studio Tour can visit the website at http://www.ElephantsEyeTour.org and click on "support the tour" to learn of ways to help and the benefits of participation and sponsorship.
