DIAMOND SPRINGS, CA, April 24, 2014 (Press-News.org) In a first for the company and the process chiller industry, leading chiller manufacturer Legacy Chiller Systems is launching its system upgrade effort for all customers who have previously purchased process chillers with the company.
The factory replacement kit includes a PLC and a full color HMI touch screen. The ability to field upgrade a process chiller's complete control architecture is a first of a kind in the industry. The retrofit/upgrade is available on the following models: PAC, PACT, VPACT, PWC, and PWCT with existing PSG control boards that have been on the market from March of 2005 until January of 2013.
"We're excited to be able to finally offer this upgrade and new age technology to our customers," said Martin P. King, founder and CEO of Legacy Chiller Systems. "Adding the ease of a touch screen, Modbus, BacNet and Lonworks communications technology makes for a more user-friendly system."
Some of the standard features available on the new retrofit package include:
- Automatic Compressor lag/lead with five operational modes
- Automatic System Pump lag/lead with five operational modes
- USB update slot for In-Place HMI and PLC software updates available from the Legacy Chillers website
- Built-in web server via HMI
- SD slot for optional data storage on HMI
- Modbus TCP, RTU, and ASCII for integration with most Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Legacy now offers a range of add-on network gateways that allows its chillers to talk to BacNet and LonWorks building automation systems.
Using eWON, a secure VPN connection is now possible for remote Intranet or Internet operation of the chiller through Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome browsers. The HMI touch screen provides onboard help with troubleshooting tips. Using QR codes shown on screen, users can access detailed troubleshooting tips and videos through Legacy's dedicated server.
