HARROGATE, ENGLAND, November 19, 2010 (Press-News.org) The hotel has taken delivery of a sledge-full of limited edition seasonal teddy bears, which, from the end of the month, will be available for guests to take home in lieu of a small donation to Martin House Children's Hospice.
Since adopting the Wetherby hospice three years ago as its chosen charity, the Monkbar Hotel has raised in excess of GBP20,000, the majority of this through the bears, which are left in guests rooms.
Hotel director June Nelsey said: "We get an awful lot of repeat business this time of year and many will have taken home a traditional bear.
"In order to offer them something different, and not to miss out on the opportunity of helping Martin House, we have commissioned a one-off Festive model. Only 1,500 have been made and I know guests will find them totally irresistible."
"The bedroom bears have become our charity trademark and without a shadow of a doubt they are our most successful fund raising venture to date."
Martin House Corporate fundraiser Brenda Peel said: "June and the Monkbar Hotel team have already done an exceptional job in supporting us and we appreciate everything they have done.
"The bears taken home by Monkbar guests are helping to spread the word about us all over the world.
"If the seasonal bears prove as popular as the normal ones, June might well be asking Santa for a special delivery on Christmas day!"
