PHUKET, THAILAND, November 20, 2010 (Press-News.org) The games are to be staged in Oman, which boasts a pristine shoreline offering the perfect venue for an event of this kind.
Started in 2009, the Asian Beach Games event is aimed at motivating young people across Asia to try their hands at sports, as well as being a great demonstration of the exciting diversity of cultures across the continent.
The nine day games will take place from December 8th to December 16th at Muscat's flagship sports facility; the Al-Musannah Sports City. This is a one million square metre purpose-built facility set just over 100 kilometres north of the city of Muscat itself, offering an events plaza, 400 berth marina and athletes village along with associated media and leisure facilities.
Competitors will take part in events such as beach volleyball, beach handball, beach kabaddi, water polo, sailing, swimming, waterskiing and more.
One highlight of the week is the open triathlon event, with participants travelling from across the globe to take part.
