BackupChain Backup Software, Oter Informatica Announce Strategic Partnership

FastNeuron Inc., a provider of virtual server backup solutions, announced today its partnership with Oter Informatica S.L.

2010-11-20
BALTIMORE, MD, November 20, 2010 (Press-News.org) FastNeuron Inc., a provider of virtual server backup solutions, announced today its partnership with Oter Informatica S.L., a virtualization consulting and hosting service company in Barcelona, Spain. The collaboration between the two virtualization companies is to extend the reach and support of BackupChain Backup Software (BackupChain.com) users in the Spanish market with local representation.

Oter Informatica, S.L. (www.oterinformatica.com) headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, is a virtual infrastructure provider, offering Hyper-V server cluster hosting and consulting services to hundreds of Spanish businesses. Oter Informatica's offering includes a variety of virtualization-related services, as well as IT-related retail and online backup services.

The Eurozone compared with the US market is currently witnessing a boom in both customer purchases of foreign products and government spending. The euro in comparison with the US dollar is now relatively stable at purchasing 1.40 US dollars for every Euro. This stability and strength of the Euro has further encouraged Europeans to seek out US products at a currency discount. The currency situation is hence also lucrative for U.S. businesses that expand abroad as their products are priced well below European alternatives.

The goal of the Spanish partnership is to aid Spanish SMBs in reducing their virtualization costs. The recent boom seen in Spanish Virtual Server installations is evidence for the fast-paced adoption of Microsoft's virtualization technology; however, the increase in virtual host expenditure also necessitates an increase in data security spending. FastNeuron's partner, being an experienced virtual hosting provider to Spanish corporations, reduces its customer's virtual backup costs by deploying BackupChain Backup Software in its data centers and offering the product at its retail locations.

BackupChain Backup Software was engineered to run optimally on VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V Server, Microsoft's free OS and virtualization platform. Microsoft's release of Hyper-V has initiated a wave of worldwide virtualization adoption-especially at Spanish SMBs. After the initial hype SMB owners realized that hosting several virtual servers on the same physical machine imposes a higher risk of data loss on the company. While the risk of data loss may be reduced by deploying high-availability cluster server arrays, SMBs usually find this alternative too costly as it may nullify the overall advantage virtualization has to offer. Instead, SMBs are looking into efficient backup systems to hedge their risks, such as BackupChain.

According to FastNeuron's CTO Savas Papadopoulos, SMBs demand organization-wide licensing and live virtual machine backup. BackupChain Backup Software reduces the costs of SMBs by offering package deals and delta compression technology, which dramatically reduces backup storage costs. The company's CTO emphasized that using delta compression organizations are able to reduce backup storage costs by at least 30%. Moreover, this new technology enables SMBs to back up their virtual machines remotely, even via standard FTP. This compatibility to existing infrastructure, and the ability to create live virtual machine backups while the servers are in operation makes BackupChain the product of choice for data centers, which usually rely on standard open-source technologies to reduce their hosting costs.

Having access to a local and Spanish-speaking support base is a great advantage to BackupChain users who live in Spain. Furthermore, the strategic partnership combines the backup software offering with the numerous local services provided by the Spanish partner, which include consulting and hosting support.
