LONDON, ENGLAND, November 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing, part of the UK's largest healthcare charity is attempting to change the way people look at their health.
Through its approach to keep their members motivated and educated their aim is to improve their members' overall health for the long term and in doing so help to get Britain healthier.
As a result of Nuffield Health's innovative approach they are already seeing real results in member engagement and motivation. 70 per cent of customers who have had a health MOT have retained membership, versus 53 per cent of those who have not had one. Retaining membership is the most important factor in terms of the outcome for the member and success of the health club.
Women are the most likely to take up a health MOT, which supports previous research, suggesting that women are more likely to be proactive in managing their health compared to men.
Nuffield Health's Health MOT is a 12 point health assessment performed by a clinically trained Senior Wellbeing Advisor at one of Nuffield Health's Fitness & Wellbeing Centre. It measures, among other things: body mass index (BMI), resting heart rate, cholesterol, aerobic fitness, blood pressure, blood glucose levels, posture, sleep, hydration and waist to hip ratio.
The results of the Health MOT help to generate a health score and personalised action plan so that individual goals can be achieved and the health score improved. The health score is measured out of 100 and the higher a person's score is, the healthier they are. The team of experts are then on hand to recommend the best ways to achieve individual health goals, whether that's a personal training programme, taking a physiotherapy treatment or attending one of their yoga classes.
Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing understands that everyone's health goals are different, but by educating their members and providing continuous health advice and support they aim to improve not only their member's health but the health of the entire nation.
