With Social Security and Medicare Up For Grabs, if Anybody Should Own the Politicians, it Should Be the Baby Boomers

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA, November 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) Since the public isn't paying attention, a goodly portion of elected politicians in Washington and the nation's policy-making apparatus are run by morally bankrupt people: accountable to nobody and are literally owned by the special interest machinery that backed them with campaign funds.

Look at what that got us.

The answer to reversing the trend may well be energizing the baby boomer generation. The children of the greatest generation ever. The courageous men and women who sired the kids born between 1946 and 1964 but failed to pass on why politics matter and patriotism are important to their progeny.

Baby boomers can be the bedrock of any mean­ing­ful pressure to be brought on the political system, and have the greatest right to the facts.

Since we can't expect change by Washington politicians - nor any effective help from non-profit do-gooders (including AARP) whose ads, commercials and efforts are sterile attempts at obvious propaganda for selling insurance.

Only the boomers have the wherewithal and clout to set down a much-needed patriotic agenda that is somewhere in the depth of their souls that lie in the cinder of their parents patriotism. At the same time become a role model for their own kids and grandkids unleashing a follow-up legion of apathy-riddled youngsters on the American scene.

The urgent job on hand is to deliver to the average boomer, straightforward information about their rights and responsibilities.

To the politicians, let them know that stealing and playing with people's lives and future is hazardous to their careers on no uncertain terms.

It all has to be laid out there for all to see without hype, gobbledygook and no parlor tricks.

"Our only chance now and in the future is to focus all our time and money on the House of Representatives."

The House of Representatives is where the real action is. Are they working for you? You have to watch them and reach them. That's the beauty of the Internet.

But everyone has to join in. "Don't leave it up to others to watch their congresspersons that seem to care only about the needs of big business. That's exactly what shifty politicians, rich people, big oil interests and lobbyists want you to do."

Solution.

Buy Congress people. President and Senators cost too much.

According to the Constitution, the House has as much power as the President or Senators. If not more.

Considering the potential power of the House of Representatives, it's the logical place to start to turn America around.

So, indeed, that's where the real action is. Where tougher laws can be created to protect the people and the environment, which is the way tax dollars, should be spent.

To ignore the House of Representatives is to ignore your own interests. You shouldn't complain if you don't know what the House is up to.

Too many Congresspersons, who are supposedly representing the people, do not because no one really bothers to question their voting record and where­abouts.

Don't be surprised to find out that your Congressperson is in the hip pockets of corporations, big businessmen, industries and vested interests commonly known as the Fat Cats.

Don't be surprised to find your Congresspersons have become powerful and seemingly unbeatable; accountable to nobody but themselves and the machinery that backs them.
