BOCA RATON, FL November 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) At 69 years old, Robert D. Willix, Jr., M.D., is training for his second Ironman - and he's bringing the blogosphere along for the ride. Through his inspirational video blog, '26.2 Years Later: One Man's Journey on the Marathon of Life,' Willix, CEO and CMO of Cenegenics Medical Institute Boca Raton and CMO of Cenegenics Medical Institute, invites people of all ages and abilities to experience his training challenges and triumphs as he encounters them, reminding viewers to set physical, emotional and spiritual goals whether they are 25 or 75 years old.
In his blog '26.2 Years Later,' which launched in September, Willix chronicles his "marathon of live," swimming, running and biking in preparation for the Ironman while leading a busy life as the CEO and CMO of Cenegenics Boca Raton and CMO of Cenegenics Medical Institute, the world's largest age management and preventive medicine practice. The blog includes intimate video footage of Willix both in work mode and training mode, and offers insight into Willix's diet, exercise regimen and motivating life philosophies. The blog can be viewed at http://www.26yearslater.blogspot.com.
Willix completed his first Ironman at 43 years old on October 6, 1984, in Kona, Hawaii, and is resuming training for the Ford Ironman Arizona 26.2 years later - the exact length, in miles, of the marathon portion of the Ironman. By competing in the Ford Ironman Arizona on November 21, 2010, he hopes to qualify for the Ironman World Championship and return to Kona in 2011.
"Some people say it's ridiculous to attempt such an enormous goal at 69. They try to convince me to attempt a shorter triathlon before the Ironman. My answer is no, because I think I can do the Ironman. Through Cenegenics and by my own example, my goal is to show people that, at any age, you can wake up, jump out of bed and accomplish anything you want to," explains Willix.
