LONDON, ENGLAND, November 25, 2010 (Press-News.org) More than 160 participants from 45 countries met in Dublin in October for the 27th annual conference of Russell Bedford International - one of the leading global accounting and audit networks.
The event's record-breaking attendance was no doubt due in part to the line-up of world-class guest speakers invited to address the annual meeting of partners in Russell Bedford member firms.
The opening address was delivered by the independent politician, scholar and wit Senator David Norris, who represents the University of Dublin constituency in the Irish Senate. Prof. Dennis J. Snower, President of the Kiel Institute for World Economics, Germany, presented his views on some of the big issues facing the global economy. And Felix McKenna, former head of Ireland's Criminal Assets Bureau, explained the background and work of the agency established to tackle the profits of organised crime.
An impressive range of guest presenters from leading companies such as Accenture, Lehmann Communications, Genesis, Agency.com and Microsoft joined with in-house workshop leaders to cover a broad spectrum of topics, including an update on international auditing standards, winning public sector contracts, succession planning for accounting firms and using social media for effective business development.
Attending as guests of honour were the Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ruairi McGinley, and the Minister for Science, Technology, Innovation and Natural Resources, Conor Lenihan, TD.
Held in Ireland for the first time, the conference took place at the Westbury Hotel, Dublin, and was hosted by Russell Bedford's Irish member firm, Cooney Carey Chartered Accountants, one of the country's foremost auditing, taxation, company secretarial and business advisory services providers.
