Las Vegas, Nevada, November 23, 2010--American Medical Training, CME Training, The Dizzy Patient, Evaluation & Management Workshop.
Workshop Date: January 29-30, 2011
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
LAS VEGAS, NV, November 25, 2010
This workshop is designed for physicians that see patients who suffer from Dizziness, Vertigo, Unsteadiness and Propensity to Fall. As a greater segment of the U.S. population grows, doctors are likely to see many more of these types of patients in the future. In fact, Medicare estimates the cost to treat patients who suffer injuries related to falls will reach $20 billion dollars by 2020.Dizziness, disequilibrium, and vertigo are often poorly localizing symptoms and are difficult for patients to describe and therefore difficult for physicians to successfully diagnose and treat. Diagnostic work-ups (MRI) typically provide a low yield, and subsequent treatment options end with generally disappointing results. Additionally, the implementation of long term vestibular suppressant therapy (i.e., Meclizine) can prolong the disability and prevent the formation of central compensatory mechanisms, important for recovery from vestibular deficits. Full balance recovery, at best, is often incomplete, and the patient remains at risk for falls.
We have assembled a diagnostic program with proven, standardized protocols. Highly specific diagnoses are possible using our industry leading Videonystagmography (VNG) to differentiate peripheral from central vestibular pathology. By doing so, a more individualized and effective therapy program can be designed to fit each specific patient. Our testing regimen for patients include: oculomotor performance, positional testing, rotational testing, caloric measurements, and computerized balance assessment.
This program has been designed to be implemented easily into an existing practice. We provide complete training and ongoing support for both diagnostic and therapy components. No special certifications are typically required for the technician if performed under a physician's supervision.
