LateRooms.com - Head to El Prado in Madrid for Rubens

There will be 90 paintings by Peter Paul Rubens on display together in Madrid's El Prado, which the venue has claimed is a rare situation.

2010-12-04
MADRID, SPAIN, December 04, 2010 (Press-News.org) Guests at Madrid hotels can currently enjoy a special temporary exhibition entitled Rubens, which is a rare opportunity to see a large number of the artist's pieces on display together.

El Prado stated that it has the biggest collection of Peter Paul Rubens's work and this is the first time in a decade that it is showcasing so many.

The collection will be available to view until January 23rd 2011 and can be found in rooms A and B of the Jeronimos Building.

Rubens is described as the most admired painter of his era, with Spain's Philip IV being a great lover of his work, the organisers noted.

"The values we find in Rubens's paintings have much in common with the values of the ancient poets: his art is a constant reminder of the heroic and dramatic aspects of life and helps us broaden ... our emotions," they remarked.

Attendees are able to view this fascinating exhibition because of redevelopment work by the arts space, but the chance to see 90 of the painter's creations does not feel like an inconvenience.

The venue is open between 09:00 and 20:00 local time from Tuesdays to Sundays, with admission costing EUR7 (GBP5.85), or EUR3.50 for concessions.

Visitors who want a greater insight into the work they are seeing can also opt for an official guide, but this pushes the price up to EUR19.50.

For more information on this event, visit the Prado website or contact the venue on +34 902 10 70 77.
