RALEIGH, NC, December 04, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Poet Local series explores poets' lives and writing styles. Sherbondy is an award-winning poet who has been published in places such as The Crucible, The Roanoke Review and 13th Moon, and has spoken on NPR multiple times. In 2007 she published her first book, After the Fairy Tale (Main Street Rag). Her most recent book of poetry, Weary Blues (Big Table Publishing), was released only a few months ago. "Maureen is heavily involved with the Raleigh writing community. Most local writers know of her from a monthly open mic she organizes," said Angelika Teuber, Living Poetry's Organizer. "The Poet Local afternoon will let us turn the tables and be the audience while she has the mic."
The Poet Local is free, open to the public, and caters to those interested in learning about publishing poetry and meeting local writers. RSVP instructions are available at http://www.livingpoetry.net. The event takes place at 3PM on Sunday, December 12th at the Media Room of Ashley Park Apartment Homes of Brier Creek, 10300 Pine Lakes Court in Raleigh. The next Poet Local event will be hosted by Ricky Garni (January TBA).
