DENVER, CO, December 04, 2010 (Press-News.org) The National Wildlife Federation recently published a sustainability case study by Ecotech Institute, the first and only college entirely focused on preparing students for careers in renewable energy and sustainable design.
The document, compiled by Kyle Crider, centers on Ecotech Institute's groundbreaking sustainability efforts at its flagship campus in the Denver Metro area. Crider is Environmental Operations Manager and LEED Green Associate for Education Corporation of America (ECA), Ecotech Institute's parent corporation.
The case study appears on the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) website along with profiles from other college campuses making significant strides toward climate action and sustainability goals. The NWF has a 20-year history of working with colleges and universities through its Campus Ecology program to improve their overall green educational programming and onsite sustainability.
As America's largest conservation organization, NWF's stated purpose is to work with "more than four million members, partners and supporters in communities to protect and restore wildlife habitat, confront global warming and connect with nature."
In other news, Ecotech Institute has been cited in an article by clean-tech industry website Mother Nature Network, titled "Top 10 Cities for New Grads Seeking Green Jobs." Denver is named second in the nation after San Francisco, noting that recent investments in green jobs have helped Denver maintain an unemployment rate below the national average with an economy outperforming the nation as a whole.
"Denver is also home to the Ecotech Institute," says the article, "which offers two-year degrees and certification tracks. Students who want to continue their education and advance their green expertise can consider Ecotech to study everything from renewable energy technology to sustainable interior design."
