ExtraMD, Denver's Local Locums, Creates Easier Access to Fill In Physicians!

ExtraMD introduces online registration to make requesting interim physician coverage faster and easier. ExtraMD created an online process so clients can instantly ask for physician coverage to fill in at practices where more physicians are needed.

2010-12-06
SUPERIOR, CO, December 06, 2010 (Press-News.org) ExtraMD created an online process so clients can instantly ask for physician coverage to fill in at practices where more physicians are needed. Clients simply go to ExtraMD's website, www.extramd.com and click the "request a physician" button. After logging in, the client may request days, times and specific physicians for coverage. Emails are instantly sent to all ExtraMD's physicians, who then can step in and fill in for the medical practice.

ExtraMD, owned and operated by Marica Pook, MD, is a group of family practice and internal medicine physicians who live in the Denver-Boulder area. They specialize in filling in at practices that are experiencing a physician shortage due to to illness, military leave, maternity leave or when a busy practice needs help, but doesn't want to hire another physician. Clients include primary care offices, urgent care centers and large hospitals throughout the area.

When talking to clients, Dr. Pook noted that clients wanted to know as quickly as possible if they could obtain physician coverage. In response, ExtraMD developed their unique online registration system. "Of course," notes Dr. Pook, "we still do reservations the old fashioned way--by phone, fax or email!" The change was a positive one, as clients appreciate instant feedback, and ExtraMD's physicians appreciate instant shift notification. The system has had no crashes or down time since becoming operational in July, 2010.

ExtraMD, servicing clients since 2005, offers locums tenens services to practices throughout the Denver-Boulder area. ExtraMD provides practices with experienced board certified physicians, and seeks to build long term relationships with its clients. Making reservations easier is just one step in ExtraMD's mission to become the local, friendly alternative to expensive national staffing agencies.

ExtraMD, PC, located in Superior, was started by Dr. Pook, and has grown to include 6 physicians with clients large and small from Castle Rock to Longmont. In addition to offering fill in physicians, ExtraMD offers consulting in practice management and electronic health record implementation at http://www.extramd.com.
