FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, December 09, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Pillars Hotel in Fort Lauderdale is pleased to announce that its most recent renovation is now complete. Changes include an expansion of the common area as well as the elimination of smaller rooms in favor of larger more comfortable suites. The new space includes a formal dining room, wine bar and elegant lobby/lounge area. As a result of the improvements the hotel is now able to provide a well equipped 22 seat boardroom for meetings and conferences.
Designer Zeke Fernandez combined classic and art deco style architecture as his inspiration for the new dining and lounge theme. He describes the result as "relaxed modernized 40s/50s architecture." Some of the features include dark wood flooring contrasted with off white paneled walls and bold millwork containing inserts of hand woven bleached raffia wall covering, stepped ceiling details with recessed cove lights, 40's style polished nickel and frosted glass, and fluted light pendants mixed with hand blown, convex mirrors, and linen drum shades.
The process of creating new larger suites eliminated most of the hotel's smaller rooms. The Pillars now has 18 rooms overall which are comprised of 13 standard, one junior suite, and four one bedroom suites. Designer Fernandez updated all of the property's rooms with a more modern feel. Deco features and signed photography by well-known Miami black-and-white photographer Marilyn Brown were added to the British Colonial style rooms to provide the same eclectic feel that are now found in the public spaces.
