MadCap Software Increases Q2 2010 Revenues by 37 Percent Year-Over-Year
2010-08-31
LA JOLLA, CA, August 31, 2010 (Press-News.org) MadCap Software, Inc. (http://www.madcapsoftware.com), the leader in multi-channel content authoring and a showcase company for Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft XPS, today announced that revenues for Q2 2010 have grown 37% over Q2 2009, reflecting 32% growth year-to-date over the same period last year. MadCap, which has been profitable since the launch of its flagship product Flare in 2006, continues to grow the company's cash flow and maintain double-digit profitability--all while increasing headcount 48% over the past 12 months.

Driving MadCap's financial gains has been a combination of growth in new customers and associated licenses being sold worldwide together with strong customer retention, reflected by a maintenance renewal rate in excess of 80%.

"Our financial accomplishments are a direct result of the daily efforts by the phenomenal team members at MadCap who develop and support our industry-leading products," said Taunya Conte MadCap CFO. "We have seen a consistent trend in which new customers are attracted by our cutting-edge functionality, and then they stay because of the superior experience they have with our software and support--and that trend is accelerating. The growth and high maintenance renewal rates we've seen are even more impressive considering the tightening of budgets that we had expected to see in the wake of the current economic climate."

Ms. Conte added, "In 2009, MadCap received the 16th Annual TechAmerica High Tech Awards in the competitive 'Software' category in recognition of our technological innovation and operational accomplishment, as well as the community contributions of our locally based corporate, engineering and support teams. The ongoing commitment to those values continues to drive our growth today."

Significant contributors to MadCap's customer growth, revenue gains and profitability over the last 12 months have been:
- The growth in universities educating a new generation of technical communications professionals with Flare expertise.
- The launch of Flare 6.0, which delivers an industry first in mobile content publishing.
- The debut of MadPak ML, providing a complete technical communications suite for companies that need to publish content in multiple languages.

More recently, in August 2010, MadCap launched MadCap Consulting to support the increasing number of companies relying on MadCap's software for their technical communications.

Universities Foster New Generation of MadCap-Savvy Professionals
As adoption of MadCap's software continues to extend globally across all industry sectors, one area of growth is among leading universities--most recently Carnegie Mellon and Karlsruhe University. These top technical educational institutions are using MadCap Flare to teach students about technical communications best practices, helping to foster an entire new generation of Flare-savvy professionals for developing cutting-edge technical documentation in print, online, and on the Web.

MadCap Continues Lead in Product Innovation
In 2010, MadCap has continued to lead in technology innovation and expand its solution offerings--spurring new customer growth and fostering loyalty among existing users. MadCap Flare 6.0 introduced an industry first by enabling native mobile output of technical documentation with single-click simplicity. Flare 6.0 also added several usability enhancements for easier collaboration and publishing.

"Flare's new features and user interface improvements have been helping me work smarter, faster, and with better results," said Nita Beck, founder of Nita Beck Communications. "I'm especially pleased to see File Tags and the new WebHelp Mobile target."

Also new in 2010 is the MadPak ML (MadPak Multilingual) suite, which builds on the core MadPak authoring suite by adding MadCap Lingo, the industry's first fully integrated translation memory system (TMS) and authoring solution. Also included in the comprehensive MadPak ML suite are MadCap Flare (multi-channel authoring), MadCap Mimic (for software simulation movies), MadCap Capture (for image capture and graphics editing), MadCap Echo (for audio), X-Edit family (for reviewing and contributing content), and MadCap Analyzer (for analyzing, reporting on, and recommending improvements to a project's content).

New Consulting Service Supports Growing Customer Demand
Driven by growing customer demand, MadCap recently launched MadCap Consulting. The new service is designed to assist companies in finding the right technical communications consultant for producing documentation, online Help, WebHelp, and other communications projects. All consultants are certified through the MadCap Advanced Developer (MAD) program to ensure a thorough knowledge of MadCap's products and how to use them for delivering state-of-the-art technical communications.

"MadCap Consulting provides a professional, cost-effective solution for our technical communication needs," said Amanda Lipnack, Avantext software support manager. "MadCap's MAD certified consultants have time and time again proved to be outstanding team leaders and experienced technical authors."
