MOTOR CITY MOVEMENT launched in Detroit featuring nationally recognized dancers & choreographers

Launching in July of this year, the first Motor City Movement took Detroit by storm with more than 650 in attendance at the first ever collaboration of dancers and choreographers to join forces in the Detroit area.

ROCHESTER, MI, December 11, 2010

Due to its overwhelming success more than 20 local and nationally recognized dance crews perform live for the second MOTOR CITY MOVEMENT in Pontiac at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac on December 30 at 7:30 p.m. With new acts, featured favorites and the hottest dancers and choreographers in the nation gathered in one place, MOTOR CITY MOVEMENT is set to top its first show this December.

Hit shows including America's Best Dance Crew, Dancing With the Stars, and So You Think You Can Dance have all helped to make dance a mainstream art form. Launching in Detroit, MOTOR CITY MOVEMENT (MCM), a collaboration of dancers and choreographers, is designed to showcase talents of well-known and up-and-coming local artists from across the state.

MOTOR CITY MOVEMENT was designed to showcase the entertaining, exciting and beautiful art of dance through a live performance open to the public. There will be several different styles of dance represented throughout the show from hip-hop, funk, jazz, latin to contemporary and more. Motor City Movement will feature the hottest local dancers performing the most innovative choreography the area has to offer.

Featured artists at MCM will include Season 5 top 3 finalist Evan Kasprzak from FOX's So You Think You Can Dance performing with his brother Ryan Kasprzak from the Chicago production of Billy Elliot, as well as local hip-hop crew The Stereojunkies and The Detroit Dolls, who performed with Kid Rock at halftime of this years Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day Game. The Detroit Pistons Automotion Dance Team will be meeting, greeting, and autographing their 2010-2011 swimsuit calendars for event-goers prior to giving a special performance unlike anything seen at game-time. DJ D.Alexander will be keeping the dance floor moving after the performances till 2am. MOTOR CITY MOVEMENT is on the rise and is a night not to be missed.

About MOTOR CITY MOVEMENT:
Launching in 2010, MOTOR CITY MOVEMENT is the creation of dancer/choreographer Jill Zmijewski and production specialist Ryan Nunley. The show is designed to bring all of the elements of dance and choreography to the main stage for a one-night event featuring both national and local talent here in Metro-Detroit.

Jill Zmijewski, co-founder of MOTOR CITY MOVEMENT, has been dancing for more than 22 years. Originally from Rochester, MI, some of Jill's credits include Ally McBeal, The Tracy Ullman Show, music videos with Usher and 8-Ball, events for Microsoft, Comerica Bank, Chrysler, Channel 955, and Detroit's Fash Bash. Jill is also a choreographer for high school and college dance teams, including the Harvard University Crimson Dance Team. Most recently, she was the choreographer for the locally filmed television series, The Wannabes. In January 2011 she will join the staff of Oakland University's Dance Department.

Ryan Nunley, co-founder of MOTOR CITY MOVEMENT, owner of 441 Media, is diverse in multimedia production including audio and video editing, sound engineering, graphic design, musical theater, stage lighting and show production. Graduating with a sound engineering degree from Full Sail University in Orlando, FL, Ryan's work has been featured on NBC, CBS, Fox and FSN Detroit. He has also worked on all levels of production and sound with local artists such as Bear Lake, Dutch Pink, Gordon Bennett, and Palace Sports and Entertainment.
