WASHINGTON, DC, December 14, 2010 (Press-News.org) Initial data from the new National Hip Replacement Registry database indicates that only 60% of Depuy hip implant patients have been notified of the current Depuy hip recall. With an estimated 93,000 Depuy hip implants patients at risk this would indicate that tens of thousands don't know about this major recall and may be at risk.
In addition, less than 10% of those reporting Depuy hip implants have requested consultations with hip recall attorneys which may indicate they are satisfied with the outreach and settlements being offered by Depuy or they are not aware that lawsuits are being filed against Depuy for the recalled Hip Replacement Implant. These Depuy ASR Hip Recall Lawsuits which are being filed thought out the country are now being consolidated for litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. These lawsuits allege that DePuy and Johnson & Johnson failed to adequately research their metal-on-metal hip replacement and failed to immediately issue a recall after it became apparent that users were experiencing a higher-than-expected rate of problems with the Depuy Hip replacement product.
All Depuy Hip implant patients regardless of if they have already been contacted by their Surgeon are urged to register with theNational Hip Replacement Registry. Registering would allow for automated communications and information concerning health-related issues and news detailing all hip warnings and recalls that may impact these hips implant patients.
Register Your Hip Replacement Now
In addition to registering patients who may be involved with the recent Depuy Hip Recall, the National Hip Replacement Registry is also serving as an information clearing house for all Hip replacement and implant products such as those manufactured by Stryker and Zimmer.
With over close to one million hip implants performed over the last five years the National Hip Replacement Registry hopes to be able to reach 80% of them in the next 12 months.
National Hip Replacement Registry can be found at http://www.HipRecallRegistry.com and was created to better communicate critical information regarding recall and warning both mandatory and voluntary from the FDA and Hip Manufactures and legal experts. Data from the Hip recall Registry is not guaranteed to be accurate as the sample size is very limited. The Hip Recall Registry is not associated with any Hip Manufacture or Government Agency.
