Hydroflo Pumps Unveils New Zero Lead Pump

Pump exceeds the strictest requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act

2010-12-17
FAIRVIEW, TN, December 17, 2010 (Press-News.org) Hydroflo Pumps USA, Inc., a leading pump manufacturer, announces the addition of a Zero Lead Pump to its line of turbines, pumps and specialty products. The Zero Lead Pump meets and exceeds regulations of the current Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), including the most stringent laws in the states of California and Vermont. Due to lead's harmful health effects, recent legislation restricts the amount in a component of a drinking water system to a maximum of 0.0025%.

"Lead poisoning is a very serious health issue, especially in young children," said Brian Daschner, President of Hydroflo Pumps. "In fact, the United State Environmental Protection Agency has referred to childhood lead poisoning as 'a major environmental health problem.' The good news is it is very preventable. Hydroflo strongly supports all initiatives to decrease lead in our drinking water systems. That is why we are committed to providing our customers with the finest Zero Lead Pump in the industry."

The standard Hydroflo Zero Lead Pump features stainless steel impellers and hardware, cast-iron lined bowls and Vesconite bearings, a specialized thermoplastic composed of internally lubricated polymers. Impellers are offered in 201, 304 and 316 stainless steel.

"The Vesconite bearings add years to the life of our Zero Lead Pump," Daschner said. "These bearings can last up to ten times longer in dirty conditions than bronze bearings. Additionally, Vesconite has a very low coefficient of friction, which means lower horsepower and less energy to operate."
