WASHINGTON, DC, December 23, 2010 (Press-News.org) Jahia, the premier provider of web content integration software combining web, document, and portal features, today announced the release of its predictions with the Top 10 trends for CMS/WCM for 2011. Contributed by Jahia's founder Stephane Croisier, the list details his top ten predicted trends for the year 2011 and evaluates the accuracy of last year's predictions in the areas of Content Management Software and Web Content Management.
Topping Stephane's list this year is the rise of the next generation of composite content platforms, providing social content and applications as a service. Second, he describes a shift from Open Source to Open data, focusing on sharing mass-volume data and content, rather than the sharing of code. This shift will influence another trend, the adoption of smart content. Through content enrichment services, text mining utilities, and content intelligence features, users will have the ability to transform raw data into smart content. Fourth on the list is personalization and curation, the reemergence of business intelligence tools with the return of personalization, likely complemented by a new series of tools aimed to help users deliver, filter and re-share information. The Top 5 is rounded out with a renewed interest in search, but with a need to go beyond traditional keyword search and improve the overall search experience within the context of end-user content consumption.
Number six on the list of trends is a push toward 'never easy enough' user-friendly interfaces. For CMS/WCM projects, Stephane says users can expect simpler email content posting, transparent handling of all types of content assets, and better integration between the browser and the desktop. Seventh on the list is improvement in the number of tools and utilities to manage user experiences across multiple sites, devices, languages, and more. Number eight is the expectation that more CMS applications will provide social networking as a default core service, and even greater integration among pure-play social players and CMS/ECM. The ninth prediction is an increased interest in pre-packaged, vertical suites combining several product offerings, which will fit industry-specific needs and incur greater revenue versus generic CMS features. The tenth and final trend on the list involves a focus on more collaborative environments, from development to production, from web developers to end users, within the CMS environment.
In last year's forecast for 2010, Stephane had a pretty close match, with eight out of ten correct predictions.
