2010-12-24
SOUTHAMPTON, NY, December 24, 2010 (Press-News.org) Award-winning author, columnist and humorist Reynolds Dodson's new book, A Cockeyed Guide to the Hamptons, brings together more than 60 classic essays sure to delight and startle. Culled, combed through and revisited from his long running column, The View East, in The Southampton Press, A Cockeyed Guide to the Hamptons pokes fun at those who need poking, infuriates those who need infuriating and amuses everyone - whether a Hamptons year-rounder, summer weekender, or just interested in life in the East End.

In this book, you'll learn astounding revelations like:
• Why, if there is reincarnation, you should hope to come back as a Halsey.
• How to find the right Hampton to match your personality.
• Rules for summer Hamptons driving they don't teach you in drivers' ed.
• What oceanfront homeowners can learn from moles and yellow jackets.
• What to do about Shinnecocks' casino dreams.
• The shocking truth about the Great Pine Barrens Fire, which the author claims was started by Martians landing in spaceships made to look like potatoes. Really. He cites NASA and The New York Times as evidence.

Charmingly illustrated by Laura Hartman Maestro, the book is available now through Amazon.com. Starting Tuesday, January 5, 2011, A Cockeyed Guide to the Hamptons can also be found at the typical places, as well as some not-so-typical Hamptons haunts, such as Joe's Garage. A book signing tour is planned, at the same typical and not-so-typical Hamptons haunts. A complete schedule of appearances and retail locations will be announced shortly.

Dodson pokes fun of all the big Hamptons names, from Alec Baldwin to Christie Brinkley, from Martha Stewart to Billy Joel. A Cockeyed Guide to the Hamptons makes the perfect read during any season in the Hamptons, and any season outside the Hamptons.
