MIAMI, FL, December 27, 2010 (Press-News.org) The latest issue of "Dialogue", the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine's publication honors the Diplomates of 2010 for the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. The Diplomates went through a rigorous 8 month process of exams, applications, letters of recommendation, case studies and pre requisite positions. Out of hundreds of applicants, only 11 were awarded the title of Diplomates in the industry of Dental Sleep Medicine. The need for practitioners to hold specific knowledge and skills in Dental Sleep Medicine continues to rapidly grow, as does the awareness of OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea).
Diplomate status recognizes dentists licensed by law who've successfully completed the board certification requirements established by the ABDSM. Diplomates are recognized by patients, colleagues, professional organizations in both medicine and dentistry as having met the highest level of DSM knowledge. "Becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine was intense, and worthwhile. It lead to an increase in sleep physician referrals, as being credentialed gives more credibility from both a physician and patient standpoint." Says Dr. Manoj Maggan on his recent Diplomate status. "I wanted the credentials because we realized DSM would play a very important role in the treatment of OSA, and CPAP therapy can not be tolerated by everyone."
With the help of technology and continuing education, more doctors are beginning to treat Sleep Apnea patients in house. Companies such as Sleep Group Solutions offer advanced acoustic diagnostic imaging, home sleep test, in office training and seminars to raise awareness of OSA and get doctor involvement. "PCP's and dentists tend to see the most patients, they can boost awareness of the disorder, and successfully treat it." Says Rani Ben-David, President of Sleep Group Solutions. "We have many doctors (clients) who have saved lives and cured diseases, all by treating OSA."
With a proven track record of success, education, and technology-It's no wonder why Sleep Group Solutions has the largest Medical / Dental sleep apnea treatment network in the world. Calling a majority (7 out of 11) of 2010 Diplomates of the ABDSM, clients. "We've worked with Sleep Group Solutions from the very beginning , they're very knowledgeable and professional in the field of DSM." Dr. Maggan comments on Sleep Group Solutions. Most of doctors who lecture for Sleep Group Solutions, are also Diplomates in Dental Sleep Medicine.
