4. President Obama signed into law the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell allowing all military personnel to serve with integrity.
3. Social media shows its influence as Facebook fans revive Betty White's career by petitioning for her to host Saturday Night Live ... and Mark Zuckerman graces the cover of Time for connecting millions of people every minute of the day.
2. The world united as we watched the rescue of 33 Chilean miners in a miraculous story of survival and rescue.
1. Harvard psychologists and an iPhone app, Track Your Happiness, confirmed that people are happiest when they are having sex.

History: The Society gained international recognition in December 1998 when it challenged Ann Landers for discouraging people from writing happy holiday newsletters to enclose with their holiday cards.

- Declared August and August 8th as Happiness Happens Month & Day
