The #1 reason dogs die in this country? Behavior problems - often preventable and correctable behavior problems. Why don't people deal with these problems? Because they either don't know how or don't like doing what they do know. People are still worried about 'breaking the dog's spirit,' but that isn't what training is about anymore.
The pet industry is massive (to surpass $48 billion in 2011) and pretty confusing for a pet owner. What works? What doesn't? Is there only one way? Who can be trusted?
MySmartPuppy.com exists to help people help dogs. The My Naughty Dog contest, which ends 12/31/2010 at 11:59 PM, gives people a chance to win a free phone session with one of America's top (and most fun) dog trainers, Sarah Wilson. And Sarah will custom coach the winner on how to get results while having fun.
With eight (8) books to her credit, more than twenty-five years as a professional dog trainer and a Master's Degree in the Human/Animal Bond, Sarah devotes her life to inspiring people to communicate with their dogs using games and play rather than 'obedience.'
'We teach people to use space, situations, body language and then words,' states Wilson with a smile, 'all of those things teach and, when used effectively, get fast, tail-wagging results.'
When people have simple, fun methods that work, they use those tools. Forget about 'dominance' and 'showing the dog who's boss';' focus instead on building the bond.
People can enter the My Naughty Dog Contest by submitting a video clip (two minutes or less) or pictures or a story (200 words or less) at MySmartPuppy.com
