LONDON, ENGLAND, January 06, 2011 (Press-News.org) Experts in the fleet insurance industry have criticised the increase in fuel duty which added another 0.76p on both petrol and diesel from 1st January 2011.
This is the third fuel duty rise since April 2010 with an additional increase forecast again in April 2011. Fleet insurance ( http://www.cover4fleetinsurance.co.uk ) company Cover 4 Fleet Insurance has condemned the increase which will affect their customers and the performance of British business in general.
A spokesperson said that currently the AA figures reveal that on 31st December 2010, a litre of diesel averaged at 128.20p with petrol costing 123.98p a litre on average. Comparing this to the same time period in 2009, when diesel was 109.46p per litre and petrol was at 107.74p.
Cover 4 Fleet Insurance stated that the fleet industry has already been facing a few very challenging years with a combination of meeting green initiatives, the recession, the rising cost in fuel, amongst a number of challenges.
At a time where they need to be adapting to changes, surviving in tough economic times this fuel duty increase could in fact prevent fleet industry managers from investing in cleaner, environmentally friendly vehicles and eco-friendly driver training.
The estimated financial impact on the freight industry is a massive GBP95 million according to the FTA (Freight Transport Association). The AA has estimated that motorists in general have been spending almost GBP10 million more a day in December 2010 in comparison with December 2009.
Bearing in mind that this is even before the fuel duty increase of New Year's Day 2011, the outlook appears to be tough on any companies who have fleets in the UK. When the potential impact is considered, both financially and on delaying investment on environmental fleet initiative; this increase can be criticised as not taking into account the global fleet situation.
Cover 4 Fleet Insurance has been in the insurance industry for more than 60 years and has excellent relationships with important insurers. This puts them in an ideal position for negotiating good rates for fleet insurance and can get beneficial insurance packages for any fleet needs.
With friendly service and expert advice, Cover 4 Fleet Insurance is very competitive when it comes to motor fleet insurance. They have a dedicated team who will work on your behalf to find the best balance between the right cover and a low cost motor fleet insurance ( http://www.cover4fleetinsurance.co.uk ) policy.
