WYOMING, MI, January 07, 2011 (Press-News.org) Metro Health Allendale recently received the Community Involvement and Service award from the Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce.
The award recognizes an individual or business creating a lasting and beneficial impact in the community by going above and beyond in civic involvement and community service. The business or individual needs to demonstrate outstanding achievement in business and be strong supporters of the community.
"We are very pleased to have been recognized with the Community Involvement and Service award by the Allendale Chamber," said Metro President and CEO Mike Faas. "Community involvement is an important component to our daily operations, and it is wonderful to be recognized for this service. We look forward to an active involvement in the Allendale community for years to come."
The Allendale neighborhood outpatient center has been involved in a number of community projects, including the Children's Flu Outreach program through the Allendale Library, and the annual Fitness Frenzy and the Back-to-School Safety Night, both for Allendale Public Schools. Additionally, family physician Dr. Matthew Boyd has provided free sports medicine care to many of the athletic teams at Grand Valley State University and Allendale Public Schools.
Metro Health opened its neighborhood outpatient center in Allendale in June 2009. The 12th in Metro Health's network, the facility provides area residents with family practice, sports medicine, mammography, X-ray, ultrasound and physical therapy services on an outpatient basis.
In August 2010, Metro Health was chosen on a competitive basis to provide on-campus health care services for the students, faculty and staff of GVSU. In addition to on-campus services, GVSU students and faculty have convenient access to services at the Allendale neighborhood outpatient center.
