Tim Cordon Joins Guoman Hotels to Head Up the Cumberland

Guoman Hotels appoints new general manager at The Cumberland hotel.

2010-09-03
LONDON, ENGLAND, September 03, 2010 (Press-News.org) Guoman Hotels has announced the appointment of Tim Cordon as general manager of The Cumberland hotel with immediate effect.

Dynamic, passionate and forward thinking, Cordon comes on board with Guoman to further establish the iconic, contemporary, highly design-led, Oxford Street Hotel property as a unique, leading destination in central London.

With a successful ten-year track record in developing flagship properties within the Radisson SAS portfolio, including the leading Radisson Blu Portman Square. Cordon will employ his proven expertise to drive forward the hotel's wide-ranging appeal and continually enhance The Cumberland guest experience in its entirety; delivered from the many bedrooms and ample meetings & events space, to the hotel's late-night destination venue, Carbon.

The appointment sees the property's former general manager Stuart Chappell heading across to Beijing with the group where he will oversee Guoman Hotels' second international hotel opening.

Heiko Figge, managing director, Guoman & Thistle Hotels explained: "Guoman Hotels has warmly welcomed Tim to our group - we are truly delighted and incredibly excited to have this high calibre of hotelier spearheading the future of this multi-faceted property. Tim's blatant passion and energy that he guarantees to bring to this role will no doubt ensure The Cumberland retains its positing as an international, inspirational, experience-led hotel."

Due to open in 2011, Guoman Hotels' Beijing property comes hot on the heels of the luxurious five star Shanghai hotel which opened in June, further cementing the group's ambitious expansion plans.

Inspired by cutting edge design, The Cumberland captures the imagination with its vibrant and creative environment. The 1,019 bedroom hotel near Buckingham Palace, includes a range of suites and apartments and provides an ideal location to explore the capital.

The Cumberland's guests can indulge in Michelin-starred Gary Rhodes' Rhodes W1 restaurant, as well as the Rhodes W1 Brasserie and Patron Bar.
