COTSWOLDS, ENGLAND, January 12, 2011 (Press-News.org) People with Cotswold hotel bookings are likely to be among the audience for an upcoming performance by mezzo-soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers.

The experienced singer is due to appear at St Mary's Church in the Gloucestershire town of Wotton-under-Edge on Saturday February 12th.

Her performance is entitled A Portrait in Music and forms part of the Wotton Concert Series, which brings together classical musicians for a trio of recitals in a beautiful rural location.

A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Wyn-Rogers has spent 30 years as a top mezzo-soprano and is known around the world for her work in oratorio and opera.

She will be accompanied by German pianist Klaus Sallmann on February 12th as she performs a selection of pieces from Handel, Brahms, Wagner, Elgar and many more.

According to the organisers, Wyn-Rogers will introduce the audience to some of the characters she has portrayed on stage over the years, including "witches, earth mothers and wicked ladies".

Tickets for A Portrait in Music are priced at GBP20 or GBP25, depending on whether audience members are located in the central or side block of seating. The music is due to begin at 19:30 GMT.
