TAMPA, FL, January 12, 2011 (Press-News.org) DIG Coaching Practice presents Attention Talk Radio with part one of a series, "ADHD Advocacy: The Law and Your Rights Made Simple." Show host, Jeff Copper, attention coach, talks with attorney Matthew D. Cohen about the legal rights of those with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The discussion walks through the basics and the law concerning advocating for those who are diagnosed with ADHD.
Matthew Cohen, co-founder of Monahan & Cohen, a Chicago law firm, is well known for his work in special education law. With his extensive experience in health care and mental health law, he has served as principal litigator in a number of important special education cases and is the primary or collaborating author of several amendments to the mental health and special education laws of Illinois. He participated in the signing ceremony in Washington DC for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments of 1997, in recognition of his participation in the process leading to passage of that legislation. He has lectured nationally on special education topics, as well as on mental health and confidentiality law, and has authored numerous articles on these subjects. He is an adjunct professor of law at Loyola University Law School and has taught at Northwestern University Law School.
He has served for several years with the national organization Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders (CHADD), where he is a past president and currently serves on CHADD's Public Policy Committee and on the Professional Advisory Boards of the Chicago chapter of CHADD. He is a member of the Illinois Attorney General's Advisory Council on Disability Rights, where he chairs the Special Education Committee. He is currently on the Professional Advisory Board for Stepping Out, a support organization for young adults with learning disabilities. He received his law degree from the University of Minnesota in 1981 and his undergraduate degree from Grinnell College in 1977.
The show will be broadcast Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at 8:00 P.M. (EST) on Attention Talk Radio (ATR), a live, interactive, Internet talk-radio show hosted each week by Jeff Copper, attention coach.
