LANGKAWI, MALAYSIA, January 13, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Malaysian resort of Langkawi often proves to be a popular destination for sailing enthusiasts, thanks to its rich tradition of hosting yachting events.

One of the Asia-Pacific region's most prestigious occasions, the Royal Langkawi International Regatta, takes place between January 11th and 15th 2011, which could inspire people planning to head to the island paradise to learn the ropes of the sport themselves.

Numerous companies run sailing lessons that could be perfect for tourists staying in Langkawi hotels, with one of these firms - the Langkawi Sailing School - set to hold a programme that enables participants to start and finish at the resort next month.

Due to take place between February 6th and 12th, the course sets off from and arrives at Telaga Harbour Marina and takes in the Andaman Sea, located between the Indian Ocean and the west coasts of Thailand and Malaysia.

Proceedings get underway at 19:00 local time on Sunday February 6th and finish with the issuing of certificates the following Saturday morning.

Those who want to take part and learn a little more about life on the ocean waves can book their place on the course now for GBP577.

A maximum of five students will be taught on each programme.
