CARY, NC, January 13, 2011 (Press-News.org) Dr. Allan Acton, of Cary Family Dental, recently completed a three-day course provided by The Kois Center in Seattle. "Restorative/Periodontal Interface" was led by instructor John C. Kois, DMD, MSD on December 2-4 and discussed the importance of understanding why some anterior crown margins (the area around the edge of the crown) become exposed while others stay stable for years and how management of this area can improve the esthetics and longevity your teeth.
This course is part of a continuum that Dr. Acton is committed to completing in about two years. Last year, he completed Course I: Treatment Planning I: Diagnostically Driven and Course II: Functional Occlusion I: Science Driven Management. In December, he completed Course III, which gives him a total of 77 hours of continuing education credit hours. The Kois Center dental program is one of the top programs of its kind in the country, and Dr. Acton said the experience was both educational and fun.
"This was an intense training experience, and the knowledge I was able to acquire in such a short period of time is truly invaluable," says Dr. Acton. "Cary Family Dental believes that if our patients feel comfortable with their dental options and the dental process as a whole, the better overall dental experience they're likely to have. This training will allow me to continue to offer our patients the best dental health solutions currently available."
The Kois Center is located on the shore of Lake Union in the heart of Seattle, Washington and uses a variety of high technological teaching modalities—ranging from computer animation to live video demonstrations. Each participant´s desk is climate controlled and allows plenty of personal space for didactic and simulated clinical aspects of the courses. The Center´s hi-tech dental office and laboratory interface with the conference room allow for questions and answers during the over-the-shoulder demonstrations.
Dr. Acton opened Cary Family Dental in 2003 and has become one of the most accomplished and trusted dentists in the Triangle. He is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia and completed his advanced dental education residency at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. Dr. Acton is currently one of only six dentists in North Carolina certified to provide DuraTHIN veneers. In 2008, he graduated with honors from The Hornbrook Group's distinguished national training program and received a Fellowship Award from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in 2009. In 2010, he was honored by Business Leader magazine as one of the publication's 2010 Triangle Impact Health Care Leaders.
