LONDON, ENGLAND, January 14, 2011 (Press-News.org) Modern British Sculpture could be just the right exhibition for art enthusiasts heading to London soon who want to learn about the history of the medium in the UK.
There are a number of hugely important pieces by some of the biggest names in the British art scene displayed at the show, making it as interesting for a novice as it is for someone who knows a great deal about the art form.
Guests at Kensington hotels can see work by Damien Hirst, Alfred Gilbert, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and many other influential artists at the installation.
"The exhibition will take a fresh approach, replacing the traditional survey with a provocative set of juxtapositions that will challenge the viewer to make new connections and break the mould of old conceptions," explained the Royal Academy of Arts, where the items are being displayed.
Attendees from nearby accommodation such as Rydges Kensington Plaza Hotel London will also be offered additional context to show how the art reflects wider issues going on at the time.
Modern British Sculpture is running from January 22nd to April 7th 2011.
Tickets cost between GBP8 and GBP12 for adults and GBP4 for children, with visitors receiving a gallery guide as part of their entrance price.
Opening hours are from 10:00 to 18:00 local time every day except Friday, when the complex shuts at the later time of 22:00.
For more information on this event, visit the Royal Academy of Arts website or contact the venue on 020 7300 8000.
