Two Year Contract to Design Rehabilitation Program

WESTLAND, MI, January 14, 2011

Roger Swaninger, President & CEO, has announced Spectrum Human Services has been awarded a contract to develop and implement juvenile sex offender treatment programs for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The two-year project begins this month and will continue through December 31, 2012.

The state of California has several residential treatment facilities for male and female juvenile offenders, who are ages 12 - 25 years old. The project will involve developing and implementing five distinct and evidence-based treatment programs, training and certification for state employees, and the design and implementation of an evaluation program. Spectrum Human Services was invited to bid on the contract, as a result of an established record of securing federal funding and conducting extensive research in the area. In addition, Spectrum Juvenile Justice Services, an affiliated company of Spectrum Human Services, operates two youth detention and rehabilitation centers in Highland Park.

Dr. Nancy Calley, Clinical Director for Spectrum Human Services, will serve as the Project Director, with Dr. Nelson G. Griffis, Executive Director of Spectrum Juvenile Justice Services, also serving on the project team. The majority of project will be managed from Spectrum's main office in Westland, with some limited travel to California. "We are honored to be recognized for our research and extensive work with an important sector of the corrections population. This contract is the first venture for Spectrum Human Services outside the state of Michigan and we are excited to lend our expertise to the state of California." said Swaninger.
