Mobile Telephone Manufacturer HTC Uses Sigmer's Online Staff Survey System

The EMEA operations of HTC has grown rapidly and the leadership team decided it was time to undertake a formal survey of employees in order to gather high-quality feedback on a range of key aspects from work - life balance to employee satisfaction.

2011-01-15
EAST SUSSEX, ENGLAND, January 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) Founded in 1997, HTC made its name as the company behind many of the most popular operator-branded devices on the market. It has established unique partnerships with key mobile brands, including the leading five operators in Europe, the top four in the US, and many fast-growing Asian operators. It has also brought products to market with industry leading OEM partners and, since June 2006, under its own HTC brand.

HTC is known for its innovation. It is constantly broadening the range of devices it offers - introducing devices to support specific applications and new form factors that meet the increasingly diverse needs of its customers and partners.

HTC is one of the fastest-growing companies in the mobile sector and has achieved remarkable recognition over the past couple of years. Since launching its own brand 18 months ago the company has introduced dozens of HTC-branded products around the world. The EMEA operations of HTC had grown rapidly and the leadership team decided that it was time to undertake a formal survey of employees in order to gather high-quality feedback on a range of key aspects from work - life balance to employee satisfaction.

HTC preferred to use an on-line staff survey provided by external agency as this provided anonymity and confidentiality for respondents and gave staff the freedom to express their views and feelings in a non-attributable way.

Sigmer Technologies Ltd. was chosen as the external agency as they were able to work with the consultants advising HTC to deliver a high-quality bespoke on-line survey within tight time constraints dictated by the company calendar. The Sigmer offering included:

• Availability of a range of template staff surveys for on-line and paper which are easily bespoked to suit individual requirements
• In-house team for technical survey design for on-line and paper modes
• Graphic and accessibility design for on-line and paper questionnaires
• A robust 'industrial strength' survey system hosted from our highly-secure data-centre in London
• Flexible data import and export in formats
• Provision of an on-line reporting portal which provides real-time access to summary statistics during the survey.
• On-line reporting with drill-down facilities for customers
• Ability to conduct complex analysis and reporting of attitudinal responses

All of this delivered within an adaptable and transparent project management environment; with full quality assurance at each stage and of every deliverable.

The online survey was hosted from Sigmer's high security data centre in London. The Project Team was provided with an on-line reporting portal that allowed them to monitor overall response statistics for the survey and to view a standard summary report of attitudinal responses. A further detailed reporting portal was provided at the end of the survey allowing viewing and downloading of survey data.

The survey has been a considerable success for the HTC and it has provide a valuable insight into the attitudes and satisfaction of their staff. It has also created a baseline of attitudinal data from which changes over time may be measured.
