Rosacea is a common, but poorly understood disorder of the facial skin that is estimated to affect well over 16 million Americans -- and most of them don't even know they have it. In fact, while Rosacea is becoming increasingly widespread as the populous baby boom generation enters the most susceptible ages, a Gallup survey found that 78 percent of Americans have no knowledge of this condition, including how to recognize it or how to treat it.

Rx Systems PF has created a new, multifaceted protocol for the topical treatment of Acne Rosacea and Seborrheic Rosacea. Following intensive research, Rx Systems PF founder Dr. Lawrence Samuels has developed a unique 5-step professional protocol utilizing an enzyme complex mask, plus a morning and evening at-home treatment regimen, to treat both types of Rosacea.

"I have delved into the causes behind Rosacea and developed a unique skin care product protocol to effectively treat and manage even the most severe Rosacea cases," said Dr. Samuels. "Our pH-balanced treatment combines a uniquely blended enzyme complex mask, plus other mild exfoliative and hydrating products to effectively improve the appearance of Seborrheic Rosacea and Acne Rosacea."

Both types of Rosacea are persistent and usually worsen with time, which results in changes in appearance and self-esteem. It can cause significant psychological, social and occupational problems if left untreated. Symptoms of Acne Rosacea include redness of the cheeks and nose; increased spider-like blood vessels on the face; more than five acne papules and pustules; large pores and swollen sebaceous glands. Seborrheic Rosacea is identified by a chronic red, flaky rash on the cheeks; sensitive skin; central facial flushing; small dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin and less than five acne lesions.

The cause of both types of Rosacea is poorly understood, although numerous theories have been offered. Hypotheses have included gastrointestinal, psychological, infectious, climatic and immunological causes, although scientific evidence has not substantiated any of these as primary. Most cases of Rosacea can be controlled easily by avoiding factors that trigger flushing, using sun protection, keeping the body well hydrated with water, and using an appropriate topical treatment. Emotional factors such as stress and anxiety may also trigger blushing and aggravate Seborrheic Rosacea. A flare-up can also be caused by changes in the weather like strong winds or a change in the humidity. Sun exposure and sun-damaged skin is generally associated with Rosacea. Spicy food, alcohol consumption and exercise are other well-known triggers that may also aggravate Rosacea.

Rx Systems' Acne Rosacea Therapy, when applied by a dermatologist or spa or salon professional, is designed to exfoliate dead and damaged skin cells and enhance enzymatic activity to improve skin texture, decrease pore size and restore normal pH to the skin. Through this scientifically advanced approach in targeting Acne Rosacea, clogged pores are opened and cleaned, while skin sensitivity is reduced.

"Patients following Rx Systems' Acne Rosacea Therapy product protocol will see reduced acne lesions, improved skin texture, increased hydration, smoother skin, improved elasticity and firmness, improved clarity and skin color, and decreased appearance of fine lines and wrinkles," said Dr. Samuels.

Rx Systems PF's Seborrheic Rosacea Therapy is designed to remove damaged and dead skin cells while normalizing the complexion, without harming sensitive skin with increased redness. Rx Systems' therapy restores normal enzymatic activity, rebalances the skin's pH and intensely moisturizes the skin on a cellular level which improves skin redness and sensitivity associated with Seborrheic Rosacea. Patients will see improved skin color and clarity; increased hydration with smoother, softer skin; improved skin texture; improved elasticity and firmness; and decreased appearance of fine line and wrinkles.

Rx Systems PF was established in 1996 by Dr. Lawrence E. Samuels, a board-certified dermatologist who saw the need for skin and hair care products that were easy to use, affordable and effective.
