EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND, January 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) Small group tour operator, Rabbie's Trail Burners is on the hunt for new talent to join its award winning team, with its largest recruitment drive in the company's 18 year history.
With tours stretching from the Yorkshire to the Outer Hebrides, 2010 was Rabbie's most successful year to date, with over 35,000 visitors choosing to explore Scotland and the north of England with the independent travel company. In order to meet with growing demand, Rabbie's has undertaken a comprehensive three year business expansion plan. This includes increased departure dates of its existing one to 16 day tours and adding new routes. All of which requires the fleet of luxury Mercedes mini-coaches to grow by over a third and new driver-guides to be appointed.
There are currently 12 positions available, operating from Edinburgh and Glasgow, with plans to hire a total of 40 new recruits over the next three years. Rabbie's driver-guides come from all walks of life, current employees range in age from 24 to 62 and with previous diverse experience including an accountant, radio producer, sports presenter and even a bomb disposal expert.
Robin Worsnop, Managing Director of Rabbie's Trail Burners explained: "These are intimate tours, with a maximum of 16 passengers per trip. The personalities of our driver-guides are one most important and memorable components of the Rabbie's visitor experience.
"We aim to provide new and authentic experiences that take visitors off the beaten track to discover the real country and its people. Going that extra mile to meet and exceed our customers' expectations is embedded in our business strategy. We literally guarantee they will have a fantastic trip or their money back.
"Our training will take care of history, local knowledge and the PCV licence, but it is the natural passion, enthusiasm and appetite for life, that's at the top of our job description."
Driver-guide, Mac Dalrymple, who has been with Rabbie's for three years commented: "Personally, I think it is the best job in the world. Every day is different. It's not just the privilege of getting to regularly visit the most breathtaking and remote regions of the UK, but meeting so many people from so many countries, has really opened my eyes. The look of wonder when you turn a corner and they see a stunning sunset over Loch Lomond, or discover folk music for the first time in a wee pub in Portree, it's priceless."
The only tourism business to ever win five VisitScotland Thistle Awards in four consecutive years, Rabbie's Trail Burners has received numerous accolades for its commitment to customer care, staff development and environmental good practice.
