Gill's Cruise Centre "Goes Google" with Ancoris

UK Cruise Holiday Retailer migrates email services to the cloud -

2011-01-19
BERKSHIRE, ENGLAND, January 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) Ancoris, a specialist provider of cloud computing and enterprise security solutions, has successfully migrated UK based cruise holiday retailer Gill's Cruise Centre to Google Apps for Business. The migration moved over 250 staff located throughout the UK to the Google messaging and collaboration platform to improve communication and offer scalability as the cruise retailer grows.

The migration was driven by a 100% increase in turnover at Gill's Cruise Centre during the past 18 months. The growth of the business prompted the need for improved email scalability and flexibility as well as the ability for staff to work from any location, any time.

Google Apps for Business offers Gill's Cruise staff the ability to instantly share calendars and to synchronise email information, contacts and calendars across any device. A central company address book was also implemented to improve internal communication throughout the organisation.

Ceri Evans, IT & Facilities Manager at Gill's Cruise Centre commented, "Google Apps for Business offers us financial benefits such as no up-front costs and predictable pricing as the service works on a pay-per-user basis. The Google infrastructure means everything is based off-site which improves email security and provides an added disaster recovery benefit, as should anything happen staff can work effectively from any location at any time."

Evans continues, "We also have immediate scalability, allowing us to adjust our email service when needed. The entire service is backed up by an outstanding service level agreement and excellent on-demand support from Ancoris, should we need it."

David McLeman, Managing Director of Ancoris said, "All Google Apps deployments handled by Ancoris go through a thorough project and technical planning process managed by our experienced consulting and training team. Our objective is always to ensure a smooth migration and minimise disruption to our customers' business. The transition of people and technology for Gill's Cruise Centre was achieved in less than a day and will deliver financial benefits and innovation for many years to come."
