TAMPLA, FL, January 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) DIG Coaching Practice presents Attention Talk Radio with part two of a series on "ADHD Advocacy and the Real World." Jeff Copper, attention coach and show host, concludes a discussion with attorney Matthew D. Cohen on the legal rights of those with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) concerning how the law pertains to ADHD and the reality of the real-world application.

Matthew Cohen, co-founder of the Chicago law firm of Monahan & Cohen, is well known for his experience in special education law, as well as health care and mental health law. He has an extensive practice that includes principal litigator in a number of important special education cases. He is the primary or collaborating author of several amendments to the mental health and special education laws of Illinois, and he was a participant in the signing ceremony of the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments of 1997, in recognition of his participation in the passage of that legislation. He speaks nationally on special education topics and on mental health and confidentiality law. He is the author of numerous articles on these subjects, is an adjunct professor of law at Loyola University Law School, and has taught at Northwestern University Law School.

For several years, he has served with the national Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders (CHADD) organization where he is a past president and currently serves on CHADD's Public Policy Committee. He also serves on the Professional Advisory Boards of the Chicago chapter of CHADD. He chairs the Special Education Committee of the Illinois Attorney General's Advisory Council on Disability Rights. He is currently on the Professional Advisory Board for Stepping Out, a support organization for young adults with learning disabilities. He received his law degree from the University of Minnesota in 1981 and his bachelor's degree from Grinnell College in 1977.
