PARIS, FRANCE, January 23, 2011 (Press-News.org) Travellers can make the most of wintry conditions over the next few weeks at the Hotel de Ville in Paris, where an ice-skating rink has been set up.
As well as the having the opportunity to get out on to the ice themselves, tourists staying at Paris hotels can see a variety of demonstrations, from sports such as ice hockey and curling to dance spectacles.
The 1,636 sq metre rink is available to use until February 27th 2011 could be a great way for people to relax away from the demands of sightseeing in the French capital.
It is free to enjoy the attraction but ice skates cost EUR5 (GBP4.20) to hire, with the venue open from Monday to Friday between 12:00 and 22:00 local time, and 09:00 and 22:00 at the weekends.
People may already be planning on visiting the Hotel de Ville, as it is a stunning building that is loaded with history.
It currently houses the City of Paris's administration - and has done since 1357 - and the mayor of the capital.
The complex was engulfed in flames in the 19th century after communist extremists set fire to it, with reconstruction work carried out between 1873 and 1892.
If travellers want to take the Metro to the venue, they should make their way to the Hotel de Ville station on Line 1 or 11.
