BOULDER, CO, January 23, 2011 (Press-News.org) Amadeus Consulting, a custom software development company, is nominated for the 4th Annual 2011 Sustainability Champion Awards sponsored by The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and the Colorado Environmental Partnership in conjunction with CORE and Colorado Biz Magazine. The Sustainability Champion Award recognizes teams who have gone above and beyond required duties in the creation and implementation of a program or initiative that has made a measurable contribution to the environment, the economy and society. The award is being given in three categories based on the size of the company; small organizations, medium organizations and large organizations.
Amadeus Consulting was nominated in the medium organization category and was nominated for its efforts to formalize the company's sustainability efforts by creating a green team to examine ways to further reduce its carbon footprint. The green team is comprised of one executive and three members of the marketing team who are all dedicated to sustainability practices. The green team was created to enhance current sustainability practices, examine ways to reduce energy use, and promote the company's BLAST program. The team was able to reduce energy consumption by getting rid of the soda vending machine in the company's kitchen and replaced it by stocking the already energy efficient refrigerator with soda available for purchase. The team also made strides towards the company goal of becoming a paperless company by 2012; by streamlining the company's contract policy to reduce the need for printed copies. Another effort the team worked on was promoting the company's BLAST! program and introduced five new companies to the BLAST training.
According to John Basso, CIO of Amadeus Consulting, "The formation of the green team has been instrumental in furthering our commitment to sustainability practices. It's great to find new ways to decrease our footprint, especially in everyday activities. We look forward to the suggestions and innovations brought forth this next year by the green team. "
The winner from each category will be recognized at the 2011 Sustainable Opportunities Summit and featured in the May 2011 issue of ColoradoBiz Magazine.
